EndoVillage

Below are the EndoVillage stations taking place across both days of the event. Stations are available to book when you register.

Please note, stations that have 'OPEN ACCESS' as the session duration, mean you do not need to pre book onto this.

EV1. EUS

Focus: This station introduces the core principles and techniques of EUS, providing a practical, hands-on opportunity to familiarise participants with image acquisition, anatomical orientation, and lesion targeting.

Participants will engage in simulated EUS scanning using anatomical models to develop a foundational understanding of echoendoscope handling and interpretation of common findings.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the basic physics and principles of EUS imaging
  • Develop orientation with radial and linear echoendoscope views
  • Identify key anatomical landmarks in the upper GI tract and pancreatobiliary system
  • Gain hands-on practice in scope manipulation and image acquisition

Target Audience: GI trainees and hepatobiliary clinicians interested in EUS integration into practice.

Session Duration: 15 minutes

EV2. ERCP Sphincterotomy

Focus: This station offers delegates a hands-on opportunity to practise wire-guided and standard cannulation followed by sphincterotomy on high-fidelity simulation models.

Participants will focus on achieving safe biliary access, understanding electrosurgical principles, and performing a controlled sphincterotomy while avoiding common pitfalls. Expert faculty will provide real-time feedback and troubleshooting advice, with emphasis on minimising risks such as bleeding and perforation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Practise biliary cannulation using guidewires and catheters.
  • Understand key anatomical landmarks.

Target Audience: Advanced endoscopy fellows and consultants.

Session Duration: 30 minutes

EV3. Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)

Focus: This hands-on station provides a structured opportunity to practise EMR techniques on simulated models with expert faculty support. Delegates will be guided through lesion assessment, submucosal injection, snare placement, and piecemeal resection technique.

Learning Objectives:

  • Master submucosal injection technique.
  • Learn effective snare placement and mucosal resection.

Target Audience: Advanced endoscopists

Session Duration: 15 minutes

EV4. Polypectomy

Focus: This hands-on station provides a structured opportunity to practise EMR techniques on simulated models with expert faculty support.

Delegates will be guided through lesion assessment, submucosal injection, snare placement, and resection techniques using both hot and cold EMR approaches.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify polyp types and appropriate resection tools.
  • Practise snare positioning and resection technique.

Target Audience: Intermediate endoscopy trainees-provisional/full sign off.

Session Duration: 15 minutes

EV5 & EV6. Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) Demonstration

Focus: This station offers participants a practical introduction to the key steps and skills required for ESD, including lesion marking, mucosal incision and submucosal dissection

Learning Objectives:

  • Familiarisation with ESD equipment.
  • Practise mucosal incision, trimming and submucosal tunnelling.

Target Audience: Therapeutic endoscopists, consultants.

Session Duration: 30 minutes

EV7. Peptic Ulcer bleeding

Focus: This hands-on station focuses on the endoscopic management of GI bleeding due to peptic ulcer disease.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the principles of identifying bleeding points.
  • Practise use of clips, adrenaline injection, and bipolar therapy.

Target Audience: All levels, especially trainees preparing or already on a GI bleed rota.

Session Duration: 15 minutes

EV8. Varices

Focus: This hands-on station focuses on the essential techniques in recognising and managing varices endoscopically, with a particular emphasis on band ligation. Participants will gain practical experience using simulation models to perform banding, recognise variceal bleeding, and discuss best practice for variceal surveillance and secondary prophylaxis.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify key endoscopic features of oesophageal varices
  • Perform variceal band ligation using a simulated model

Target Audience: Trainees, newly independent endoscopists, and clinicians involved in emergency endoscopy or hepatology services.

Session Duration: 15 minutes

EV9. Colonoscopy Navigation & Loop Management

Focus: Safe advancement through the colon, loop recognition and reduction.

Learning Objectives:

  • Navigate from rectum to caecum.
  • Recognise and reduce loops effectively.

Target Audience: Intermediate to ST-level trainees-beginner trainees.

Session Duration: OPEN ACCESS

EV10. Transnasal Endoscopy (TNE)

Focus:This hands-on station provides participants with direct experience of TNE technique and explores its integration into diagnostic and screening pathways, particularly in high-volume and community-based settings.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop confidence in the practical aspects of TNE, including scope handling and navigation
  • Understand patient selection, preparation, and positioning for safe and effective TNE

Target Audience: Endoscopists and trainees interested in expanding non-sedated diagnostic capacity or improving patient-centred care models.

Session Duration: OPEN ACCESS
