Speaker Bio
Björn Ludwig maintains a private orthodontic practice in Traben-Trarbach, Germany. He is also assistant Professor at the Department of Orthodontics, University of Homburg/Saar and the focus of his research is skeletal anchorage and 3D imaging. He has published numerous clinical and scientific papers and several orthodontic books. Björn is editor in chief of the Quintessenz publication “Kieferorthopädie” (Orthodontics) and co-editor of the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics. Björn is council member of the German Board of Orthodontics and is past president of the European Begg Society.

Abstract
The benefits of skeletal anchorage became clear during the last two decades of development and the use of mini-implants is now more widespread. Many well-established workflows exist with sound biomechanics. A large number of papers have been published on the subject of failure rates, insertion sites and risk factors. Although use of TADs continues to evolve, engaging with digital technology. However, the benefits of this advanced technology may be limited. This lecture will present many clinical examples demonstrating successful outcomes, failures, errors and possible solutions. The current literature on the subject matter will reviewed and the presentation will conclude with a critical evaluation of recent developments of techniques.
